Frequently Asked Questions
Got a question? We gotchu.
If you have a question we don't answer, feel free to use our contact form and we'll get back to you as soon as we can!
How do I become a client?
If you are a foster/resource parent, we just need to see your certification, or the placement paperwork. If things are spicy and you have neither, DHS can reach out to me and we can sort it out.
If you don't fall into that category, we accept referrals from many local agencies, so you will need to talk to them about getting a referral. DHS, CPS, Self Sufficiency, CARE, Made to Thrive, programs through Good Shepherd, the schools, and others can make that happen for you. If you are struggling with this part, just holla at us, and we will see what's up. We want to help kids that need it!
Is there another way to get services?
We just created a new way to get clothing! It is limited to a couple times a year per person. (Not per household) You just fill out the Google Form, and we will get a hold of you when your clothing request has been filled. Most people get a paper bag full of clothing, at absolutely no cost!
What are your hours?
We are open Monday through Thursday 10-3, and Friday 1-7. However, we are a small organization, so we do sporadically close. You can absolutely call ahead or check our Facebook. We also offer appointments.
How do you fund this?
We apply for grants, and we rely on the community's generosity. We have been so fortunate to have such an incredibly supportive community, from individuals to businesses.
Can I come check it out?
Absolutely! We are happy to give tours any time, and answer any questions in person. Feel free to drop by whenever.
Do you tell anyone I came in?
Absolutely not. That is not their business. We defend our records and database, fiercely.
Can I volunteer?
Totally! We have two ways you can volunteer.
Currently, we are doing drop in volunteers at the Closet. You can just come in any time we are open, and tell us you want to help, and we'll start getting you trained. You'll be doing things like putting clothing away, hanging clothing, cleaning, etc. It will be helpful if you can lift heavy things and climb ladders. We prefer small children to not come with, when volunteering. If an older child wants to volunteer, we do require a chaperone until we get to know them a little bit.
We also have a volunteer at home program. You just check a tote of clothing out, take it home, wash, quality check, fold, and return!
Can I mail items or a check?
Of course. Our address is:
167 E Main St
Hermiston, Oregon 97838
Thank you so much!
